Dr. Peter Feringa, DVM
Dr. Peter Feringa graduated from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. From there, he went to Los Angeles, where he studied under Dr. Stephen Ettinger for two years. In 1988, he married Kara Garbo, and together they have triplets – Brett, Megan, and Ellen, who were born in 1996. Dr. Feringa owned Bay Animal Hospital from 1991 until 2009. He then moved back to Louisiana and purchased Hillside Veterinary Associates. Dr. Feringa has a special interest in internal medicine and cardiology. He is an avid fisherman and loves to travel and spend time outdoors.
Dr. Margaret Borne, DVM
Dr. Margaret Borne grew up in Covington, LA. She graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor’s in Animal Science in 2012. She then went on to attend the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, where she earned her doctorate in 2016. Dr. Borne first realized her passion for veterinary medicine when she began working at Hillside as a kennel technician and veterinary assistant during summer breaks and holidays throughout her years as an undergraduate student. She is very excited to be back at Hillside, practicing medicine, where her career began. Dr. Borne enjoys spending time with her son, Lex, and her husband, Brett. Traveling and attending football games are some of their favorite hobbies.
Dr. Kelsey Greene
Dr. Kelsey DiMiceli Greene graduated from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. She and her husband Matt reside in Covington with their three children, Nora Grace, Gus, and Etta Jane. They have two cats, Mister Butter and Cornbread, and a plethora of other farm animals. In her spare time, Dr. Greene enjoys spending quality time with her family, baking, and working on their family’s Angus farm operation.
Adeline, Veterinary Technician
Adeline is a veterinary technician and has been practicing for seven years. She attended Northshore Technical Community College. She takes great pride in the relationships she builds with her clients and patients. Adeline enjoys horse riding, traveling, hiking, camping, and going to baseball games.
Courtney, Veterinary Assistant
Courtney graduated from Covington High School and Pen Foster and has been practicing for four years. She prides herself in making sure her patients have everything they need from arrival to departure. In her free time, she enjoys hunting, fishing, mud riding, taking care of her cows, camping, and going out to eat.
Britney, Hospital Manager
Britney graduated from Independence Highschool in 2011 and attended Northshore Technical College. Britney has a wide range of work under her belt, including managing a cruelty investigative humane society, participating in wildlife control, performing deckhand work for a commercial fisherman, chiropractic and physical therapy work, and much more. She started her employment at Hillside as a kennel assistant in 2015. Her true love is playing a role in helping animals live the healthiest and happiest life possible. She loves getting to know the patients and clients and understanding what their individual needs are, as well as ensuring a smooth workflow in the hospital. In her free time, she enjoys kayaking, fishing, working with animals, and spending time with her husband, Trey, and her son, Carson, as well as her furry family members.
Amanda, Office Manager/Veterinary Assistant
Amanda has had a love for veterinary medicine since she was a child. She has been in Veterinary Medicine for over 20 years. Her first job was at a clinic in Slidell, LA as a volunteer while she was a junior in high school. While still in high school, she moved to North Platte, Nebraska. After graduating from high school in 2000, she started courses for Veterinary Assistant, and after graduation from that program, she started taking Veterinary Technician courses. In 2002 she was hired at a mixed animal practice in North Platte, NE, then moved with one of the doctors to a small animal-only practice, where she remained until 2014. In 2014 she moved back home to Louisiana to be closer to family. She was hired at a clinic in Ponchatoula, LA, and remained there until 2020, when she was hired at Hillside. Amanda has such a love for animals and treats every patient as if they were her own fur baby. Amanda continues to learn with continuing education as veterinary medicine is ever-changing.
When not at work, Amanda enjoys spending time with her family, son, and husband. They love to spend time taking their son places to explore, and his favorite place is the beach or Pawpaw’s house. She enjoys gardening, growing tomatoes and peppers, along with cooking. She has 6 rescue dogs: 4 Chihuahuas, Saint, Roux, Brees, Beignet, and 2 Catahoula X Tangi and Toula.
Erica, Front Desk Manager
Erica has been practicing for 19 years. She prides herself in being knowledgeable and able to assist the team in any and all ways needed, from her responsibilities at the front desk to technician duties. She likes to spend time harassing her three Dalmatians, Rupert, Darcy, and Nash, with grandiose costumes. She runs a very busy Facebook page promoting pet-friendly restaurants, stores, events, small businesses, and adoption events.
Our Administrative Team (CSRs)
Amelia graduated from Covington Highschool in 2018. She has been a part of our team since 2022. She prides herself in the relationships she builds with our clients and their pets and treats them like family. In her free time, she enjoys fishing, mud riding, and spending time with her pets, friends, and family.
Tammy has been practicing for 14 years and attended St. Louis High School and UNO. She prides herself in getting to know her clients and their pets needs. Tammy enjoys reading, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her cats, goats, and horses. The beach is her special place.

Alisha, Groomer/Kennel Help
Alisha has been practicing for 15 years and graduated from the On The Job Training program. She prides herself in treating animals as if they are her own. In her free time, she likes spending time with her family and her dog Arlie.
